So today was a really really eventful day, filled with ups and downs, but mostly the former.
Starting in the morning, since today was Racial Harmony Day, we had Bangra dance performers performing for us. It’s a really cool and lively dance which totally livened up the atmosphere. The performers even invited some people up on stage to dance and Mdm Heng, Mr Goh etc. were saboed. Hilarious hahaha but I realised they are all rather good at dancing heh.
Oh then afterwards brother informed me that he was posted to SCS to become a specialist which was really awesome. I think it’s really suitable for him because OCS would probably be too tough. Yet, for a character like him, I think he really makes a good leader so SCS is truly the best for him. At least i trust that God made the right decision for him.
Then, during Math we had Functions quiz and it was terrible horrible because right when the quiz started, I was under massive attack by a/a few mosquitoes. I was using one hand to write while the other hand was busy scratching the five bites I had. In the end even though I managed to finish all the questions, I was too distracted to check through my answers. AARGH. This totally reminds me of Flea Fly cheer!
After school we Shooting team 1 members went for our .38 shoot which required us to wear full-u! Before the shoot, I had the impression that .38 would be relatively smoother but with a harder trigger to press, though I was wrong on that. We got to shoot 30 rounds \^_^/ and reloaded every 5 rounds. 10 rounds on Figure 2 at 9m, 10 rounds on Figure 2 at 15m, 10 rounds on NRA at 9m (?). The FIs did tell us that.38 revolver had a slightly larger recoil. How wrong he was! The .38’s recoil wasn’t just slightly larger but to me it was really massive and I had to readjust my grip for every shot. However, the gun was relatively smoother, more comfortable and sleeker than the .22 revolver. I had many IAs because I couldn’t shoot many last rounds but since it isn’t competition and the FI is right beside me, who cares? But then since the recoil shook me so much I was almost dreading the next shot every time I pressed the trigger. Amazingly though, in the end I still scored a weird 150/200 which was 75% Marksman standard…even though I wasn’t really aiming hmmm. Apparently the sequence we shot was exactly the competition sequence for CIs/Officers woah. Didn’t know that until Mdm Yeo said it. So then they said they wanted to consider changing competition to .38 revolver, which I do not really agree. If they wish to do that, there definitely has to be more than just one or two live shoots before competition stage. Even for people like us who have been though competition shoots, we were still pretty shaken by the .38. I can’t imagine say sec two cadets shooting .38s. They will probably be so scared they may just drop the gun. I guess .38’s recoil definitely needs more getting used to so if I get a chance to shoot .38 again, I would do it.
After the shoot, we took Mdm Yeo’s car back to school and on the way, she was making us guess the unit hierarchy, which we kind of just passed? When we got back to school, sure enough she announced the hierarchy. So my exact posts are…48’s NCO (with Ong, who’s 48’s training head, and Elaine :D), Head Testing and Promotion (with You Xuan :D) and..Unit Head :O (with Kang as adjutant!)
Techincally being 48’s NCO was a little of a shock to me because I didn’t really expect them to put me as that. But since these are what I got posted to, I will do my best to lead and serve the unit, hopefully able to teach the cadets well and also introduce new stuffs into our syllabus! I guess some squadmates were initially disapointed and I was honestly quite shocked too. But on hindsight, I really think these posts really suit all of us well–be it in terms of our abilities, personalities, strenghts, weaknesses. I guess those who have taught us know best. Even though squadmates may not think they are up to expectations, I have utmost confidence that they will do well.
So then we went for RT. But since we didn’t bring our PT kit, we just played Captain’s Ball in Full-U! We played with our NCOs and won both 47 and 48. But with 48, because we won too many times, Kang suggested that we let them win a little or they will be demoralised since they were our juniors after all (Really this is one of Kang’s strengths. She really knows how to consider others’ feelings well.) So in the end, we did let them score a few but I guess 48 really needs more practice in Captain’s Ball.
After act went for concert band concert! Basically chionged to Serene centre to buy flowers and eat with Kang and her friend Kendu. But halfway through they decided not to go in for the first half so since my friend reserved a seat for me, I got to go in. Quite embarassed though because I was late and my seat was at the front right in the centre. I think band really did very well and I was impressed by their performance especially saxophone quartet and percussion. Even the juniors’ performance exceeded my expectations. I think classmates in band did a really good job as well even though hurhur someone dropped her instrument hahahahaha. And now I know how a bassoon looks like! And basically how the different brass and woodwinds (especially clarinet, flute, bassoon, sax) sound like too. I can comfortably differentiate them now!
Finally, I took Kang’s car back and we were talking about NP stuffs mostly.
Overall it was an exceptionally eventful day.
